Simple Harmony And Band has had another busy year!!  First of all, we have a brand-new show called “Jukebox 45 RPM,” which is favorites from the fabulous 40′s to the groovy 60′s to the sounds of today… in other words, OLDIES!!!  Yeah! 

Tod Huston sings a beautiful tenor.  The guy is classically trained to boot, and he can also play sax and piano and a host of other instruments.  Very dry sense of humor.  He keeps us on our toes!

Mary Knapke does a lot of big band singing and just loves to sing in general.  Simple Harmony is her favorite group with which to perform.

Sherri Heidemann picks out all the great music for the group and really knows how to put a program together. 

Sharon Latimer from Minster on piano, Bill Barrett from Bellefontaine on bass and Rick Lunz on drums comprise the band, or as they are affectionately known, “The Bandits.”

When we first got together to sing, we were singing songs we liked and could do well.  It soon became evident that our audiences really love oldies music.  After all, who listens to the radio anymore?  If you do, you are blasted with rap music and beat boxing and, well, nothing I’m ever going to want to listen to 20 years from now – that’s for sure!

We’ve had a great time revisiting the old songs.  Our repertoire includes tunes from Sinatra and Mamas And Papas, Simon And Garfunkel.  Fabulous arrangements made famous by Don McClean (remember American Pie?) and The Carpenters and The Beatles and Herman’s Hermits… the list goes on and on. 

If you come to one of our shows, we’ll take you on a trip down memory lane with TV Time.  Anybody remember shows like “The Brady Bunch” and “Green Acres?”  Sing along time, folks!  And if you want to cut a rug, we encourage that, too!

We are having a lot of fun with this.  If you are interested in seeing and hearing what we do, head on out to the Holland Theatre in Bellefontaine, OH.  What a wonderful old theater it is, too!  In the midst of renovation, it’s being restored to its original glory.  It now has state-of-the-art sound, new seating, and just a general ambience of beauty and class.  We are SO happy to have been asked to do our show there!  And it’s a cheap night of entertainment.  $5, $10 and $15.  Come on.  Where else can you get entertainment that cheap?  All proceeds go to the restoration of the theater.  Thursday night, October 21, 7:30 p.m.  Be there or be square!

As a side note, we now have a wonderful Christmas show.  Not your run-of-the-mill Christmas show, either.  Lots of really cool arrangements, mixing traditional with oldies and just good old plain fun!  We’ve heard that Elvis is alive and well and might make an appearance!  We’ll be debutting this gem at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center on December 16 at 7:30.  Admission is free and open to the public.
